This, That And Everything Else...

Let's make this a LONG one!! ^_^
Where to start though? So much choice...

Let me go from here - Eilís invited me over last night, but when I got there she had left for home. Y U NO WAIT FOR ME?  I demand an explanation for that one.. Although my trip wasn't wasted!! Ciara and Treasa were the hosts for the night. Thanks girls ^_^ And Treasa, for that lovely concoction of... fluids... that you presented to me ;) Ciara, for putting up with my horrible attention seeking and my boring "you-had-to-be-there" quotes that I was reading out, you're an angel :P haha

I remembered today that I have several Easter eggs left from Easter. They will be lovely to come home to after my exams... I can cry myself to sleep, stuffing chocolate into my mouth!! Although, knowing me I'll probably just eat it instead of studying... Oh well!! My first exam starts on Monday, then there will be three weeks of horrible-ness, and once it's all over... Messyfest III: The Chundering. A massive, amazing, fun-filled start to the summer ^_^

Now. By special request, I have to mention one of the most amazing things in the world. Joey The Cat.

Joey The Cat

He's fluffy. He's soft. He's cuddly. He's affectionate. He's playful.  He's cute. He's mischievous. He's black. He's white. He's loving. He's attention-seeking. He's Cillian's. And he's just generally awesome!! So here's a photo of the little cutey.

**WaRnInG: nO sPoIlErS**

The reason for the heading there is because I wanna mention, The Avengers!! XD I went to see it this morning.. It was just WOW. I really enjoyed it. For those of you who've seen it, I hope you agree with me. It had it's funny moments which was brilliant!! Especially in an action-packed film like this one. And I really don't think it's necessary to have seen the previous films like Iron Man, Captain America, Thor etc to get what's going on in the film. But, it does make the experience so much better in my opinion ^_^ Also, 3D was MADE for Scarlett Johansson's ass! So go see it! NAO! :D

Ehhhh... I think that's all I have for now. But I believe it's enough :)
Talk to y'all later!!

From Johto To Kanto

As you may guess from the title, I have finally moved over to Kanto in Pokémon Heartgold. Yes, I'm just gonna jump right in there with this one!!

I decided that it was worth chucking that Master Ball at that over-sized bird [Ho-oh, for those of you who forgot] because it was doing my head in. Eventually got a nice nature with decent IVs :D

I have beaten the Elite Four already and I'm currently wandering around the Kanto region at the moment. As I beat Lance's Charizard with my Gengar, I breathed a sigh of relief that I was finished... with the first part of the story. After starting the file last AUGUST! Yes, it's been that long. Hopefully I will beat the Kanto region a bit faster than that :)

After I thrashed the Pokémon League, I decided that I'd try calculate my party Pokémons' IVs. I was rather disappointed with the majority of them. Especially Dragonair with 0-2 possible IVs in Attack!! And Gengar's 6 in Special Attack! I am not a happy bunny.. but there's always a chance to improve and breed an entire, new, more powerful set of these party Pokémon. I will do so at some point. Probably before I battle the Pokémon League again.

This blog will take a bit of a hit for a while because I'll be starting exams on Monday... **le sigh**

But once summer kicks in and I have LOADS of free time because nobody will hire me, I intend to play MOAR and MOAR Pokémon. Until then, I think that's all I have to say.

Happy Pokémon-ing ^_^

Such A Rogue

Heyo all!!

Seeing as I don't get to play Dragon Age: Origins much, I thought I'd update what I can when I do play.

Chaz: Elven Rogue
As you may guess, I have started a file with an Elven Rogue, named Chaz [no particular reason I chose that name]. And he uses Dual Weapons. I haven't got very far yet - I'm only after getting the vials of Darkspawn blood and have yet to take part in the Joining.

I think the only reason I chose to go with an Elven Rogue this time was because of two things:
1. I like Elves over Dwarves and Humans [for no reason apart from the fantasy aspect]
2. Dual Weapons was a choice because... well this slash and gash video

I'm playing on Nightmare difficulty. It IS very difficult in places... but SOOOOOOOOO much more fun :D I don't really have much else to say but this is the first time I'm playing through without a mage so it'll be interesting to see where I go.

Blaise: Human Mage
Back to my current mage; Blaise. I'm level 10 at the moment and going to Lake Calenhad to free the mages. I have just been at Redcliffe and made my choice to bring mages back to help me enter the Fade to destroy the demon in Connor [apologies to those who have NO idea what I'm talking about].

Just before making this decision, I had battled Bann Teagan and his men. Now, since I'm playing nightmare difficulty, I was expecting a very difficult battle. Especially since when I played through on normal difficulty, it took me ages to get past. But, I did it in one go! I was really surprised... Blaise used Death Hex on Bann Teagan, Morrigan used Vulnerability Hex on him and the with a Crushing Prison thrown on top of that, Bann was really vulnerable to my sword play. Anywho, I think it just means I'm getting good at battling well in this game :D

So there's my recent update on the game. Oh! One other thing was I learned how to use Force Field really well. Sending out a scapegoat for a group of enemies to attack, then as that character gets beaten to death, use Force Field on them and then throw a Fireball their way so the enemies take a big hit but your teammate remains unharmed. Once I unlock Virulent Walking Bomb, I will try that combo in my last Dragon Age post.

Oh and one final thing, if anyone has comments or suggestions or combos or anything like that, do feel free to comment below :) Any criticism is good criticism :D

That's all for now :)

Technology doesn't like me..
I've come to that conclusion recently.
Either it does ACTUALLY hate me or it's a big coincidence that both my laptop and phone have decided not to function correctly.

Tomorrow, I will get my phone fixed though :D
I am very happy about that.
As for my laptop, I have no internet and no idea why that's happened.
I mean, right now I'm using wireless internet from my house with Patrick's laptop...
There's no excuse!!
By the way Patrick, thanks for letting me use this without your permission.
You're so nice ^_^

On the bright side...
I got a ticket to see....

Lady Gaga's
Born This Way Ball

I am SOOOOOOOOOO excited XD I can't wait!!
It's gonna be unreal! ^_^
It'd be so cool to get into the Monster Pit!
[although I'm still not quite sure exactly what it is!]
[All of teh exclamation marks!!1!eleven!!!!]

In one weeks time, my college exams start up for three weeks.
This'll be tough!
But 2nd year is almost over.. wow!
I'm halfway through my course; how the time does fly.

Oh, I did catch Ho-oh by the way.
I'm currently on my way through Victory Road to battle the Pokémon league.
Just putting that out there ^^

Friday night I was at a wonderful party for the one and only Lorraine-bow :D
Happy 21st Birthday Lorraine!
Lots of fun was had and many memories were made.

Yes, I have joined Pottermore!
GoldCrimson9501; add me :D
But make sure you tell me who you are :P
I am a proud Hufflepuff
We will reign supreme... eventually!

Ciao for nao ^^

Kieran Used 'Connect To Internet'

This is just a quick entry [That's what he said!]. I'm just gonna mention a few websites I use when it comes to the wonderful world of Pokémon.

Now, before I start I'm just gonna say that my main interest in Pokémon is in the video games. Gameboy Colour, Gameboy Advance, Nintendo 64, Gamecube, Nintendo DS and Wii. I've played quite a few games... But my plan for the summer is to rewatch the anime :D So most of what I say will be in relation to the games.

1. 100 Top Pokémon Sites
Now this one; I don't know anything about it. The few websites I use primarily are listed next, but I came across this one and thought I'd throw it down for teh lulz. This is basically a website with links to 100 other websites about Pokémon. Have a look through - you might find something you liek.

2. Pokémon Global Link
For those of you who play Pokémon Black or Pokémon White, you may already know about this one. This is where the Dream World is. You can put a Pokémon to sleep [no, not put them down!] and they will dream and show up in Dream World. You have to make an account on the website and sync it with your game. In Dream World, there are a few cool things to do such as catch new Pokémon with awesome abilities, grow berries and trade items with other trainers, find items and berries and play some fun games. You can also customize your C-Gear from there too!!! And get some rare event Pokémon too ^_^ Such as Arceus and Lucario. Check it out :D

Dream World

Charizard C-Gear Skin

3. Pokémemes
Here is one of my favourites because it is just SOOOO funny! It's updated daily. There are hundreds of pictures and stuff on it. There's not much more I can say but check it out anyway :D

To The New Region!!
4. Smogon
Now this one... I don't really use it that often. But this is a very useful website to find strategies for raising Pokémon and online battling. It has details on all 649 Pokémon, plus extra stuff on other forms of Pokémon. Like Deoxys Speed Form has a different page detailing battle strategies to the page for Deoxys Normal Form. It also has some calculators on it, such as a battle damage one. Give it a look sure :)

5. Bulbapedia
Bulbapedia has loads in it. There is info on the TCG, the manga and the video games. Now, I find this site kind of difficult to maneuver but maybe that's just me. It does have a lot of information on the card game and the anime so if you're into them, check out Bulbapedia. As for the individual Pokémon pages, there is a lot of material on there that you may not be looking for if you're in search of the basic mechanical aspects of a Pokémon. Say, for example, you wanna train up a Pikachu and find out what attacks it learns in a specific game. Bulbapedia will show you that, but it will involve sifting through a lot of unnecessary stuff to find it. But overall, this website is really informative.

6. Serebii
This is my go-to website when it comes to Pokémon. I found it years ago and I always refer to it for any aspect of Pokémon. It posts daily news updates which is really handy! I find the layout is really well done so you should have no problem trying to find something on the site. Again, it has information on the TCG, the manga, anime and games. So much details goes into every post, but the site is designed that you only read what you want to find out. I really do adore this website and cannot give the creators enough credit about it. As they say, save the best for last - as I have done, in my opinion.

There ya go, my browser history for Pokémon. I hope you found this useful.

Party Rocking

Currently reviewing the epic photos from last night's shindig... Chloe's 19th :D As usual, camera made it's appearance to document the night. Some magical photos were taken while ALL OF TEH FUN was had. Would just like to say, Chloe, it was an honour to be invited and I hope you had a ball :D

Happy Birthday!!

Not Actually 18

Robyn, Chloe and Clair

All The Pretty Faces

I would just like to say, that banner was there accidentally. Chloe is no more an 18 year old!!

Tonight is the All Socs BBQ. I don't know what to expect except an awesome night ^_^ MOAR photos to be taken hopefully. I am deadly with a camera!! Be warned if you ever see me with one!

My phone continues not to send/receive calls/texts/emails. Went into O2 today to see what they would do and the only solution is to get it sent off to be fixed. It is quite painful for me not to be able to text people because this phone is an extension of my hand. This matter shall be dealt with accordingly when the time is right but until then... I shall continue to complain about it!!

Virulent Gaming Strategies

I was just surfing through YouTube... listening to Orphic Oxtra. Yes. I do like their music... Here is the first song of theirs that I heard; Skeletons Having Sex On A Tin Roof. But anyway, back to Dragon Age: Origins...

I would like to try a file where I primarily use a mage with a party there just for my own benefit; such as a rogue for opening chests. Scouting through YouTube led me to find this - Virulent Walking Bomb

It makes an wonderful disgrace of enemies as you can see :D Mwah Haha Ha Ha!

I will definitely keep this is mind... I may even change my current human mage's training programme (ha!) to develop this combo. His name is Blaise by the way.

The internet has wonderful things on it... expecially for Dragon Age: Origins

Ttyl guys and gals

Trips To Tesco

Patrick O'Donovan...

The amount of times I've heard you playing THIS song :D
Be glad I didn't say worse :P
And now...
You have been mentioned :D JIIIIIIIIIIZ

I'm am here sitting in my kitchen NOT watching Desperate Housewives... This is redonkulous. It shall be watched within the next 24 hours. The end of the season and whole series is near :'(

In case you haven't guessed, I love Desperate Housewives. Season 8 has been amazing so far. That's all I'll say.

I'm currently in the presence of royalty! :D

She is currently wearing the glasses I found last Thursday. On our way to Freakscene's opening night in the Roxy, Eilís and I were strolling down Washington Street and low and behold, a pair of glasses sitting on a wall... So naturally we took them B)

About Eilís, it's been just over a year since we first met. And our first meeting consisted of a very VERY long handshake. A subsequent meeting involved a midnight trip to Tesco. It was quite enjoyable... as you can see from below XD

Me with Hello Kitty
Me with Rod Stewart

It was a very memorable night ^_^ As I remember, I bough cake ingredients and baked a cake once I got home. Chocolate. Om nom nom :B

Reminiscing about how I met my friends.. fun times :D
Ciao peeps!!

Condescending Wonka Trainer

'Wow, you came through the Ice Path?'

'You must be a real hotshot Trainer'

Discovering the wonders of blogging from my phone ^^ I'm like a child with a new toy!

I took these photos the other day just as I came into Blackthorn City. I thought it was quite funny.

Wow, you came through the Ice Path? You must be a real hotshot trainer!

I'm just gonna say, I was playing Pokemon long before you were even programmed! XD That is all..

Mages For The Win!!

And so begins my Dragon Age posts. As you may guess from the title... I really like mages. But to be fair to other classes, I have only played as mages so far. In my most recent file, however, I'm an elven rogue specializing in dual-weapon combat. Things are going well so far too :)

I usually consult the following website as it always helps if I need anything
Dragon Age Wiki
It is great :D

Now, my first post is gonna be rather technical regarding my Elven Mage and how he became quite unstoppable towards the end of Dragon Age: Origins. And throughout the expansion pack Dragon Age: Awakening, he wiped the floor with enemies!!

This is going out to Cillian :D

Starting from the beginning, I chose an elven mage as they gain the highest bonus to Magic and Willpower starting off. It's only a slight increase from a human mage, but every little helps. Dwarves cannot become mages.

As I level up, I throw all of my attribute points into Magic and some into Willpower too. I also raise my Cunning to 16 and leave it at that. Once Willpower [this determines the amount of mana you have available for spells] hits about 30, I leave it and raise Magic more and more. Eventually, I do come to a point where I put a few points into Constitution but I'll talk about that later.

Next are skills. Warriors and Mages get one skill point every 3 levels; Rogues get one every 2 levels. As a mage, I put the first few into Coercion and then to Combat Tactics and Combat Training. Coercion is persuasion. I find it really useful to be able to persuade people to do things for you, or to manipulate people in this game. You'll experience why during the game -  there are loads of examples. Combat Tactics is used for making tactical commands for a character you don't control. These took me a while to grasp the concept of but they can be very useful once you know how to use them. I'm not even going to try explain them because I find it difficult to do so unless I were to show you. Combat Training is just frickin' handy... it allows mages to take more damage before a spell is interrupted by an enemy attack.

Spells... Each time you level up, you get a point to spend on unlocking a spell. I tend to stick to the Arcane Mastery spells [Arcane Bolt, Arcane Shield etc], Primal Fire spells [Fireball is so cool and Flame Weapons is handy], Spirit Telekinesis spells [Crushing Prison is a favourite of mine] and Entropy Hexes spells [I used to think they weren't useful but when used properly, they're deadly]. I find these to be a sufficient group of spells that do quite well.

Now for specializations [my favourite part!!]. At level 7, you get one specialization point to use. I always unlock Arcane Warrior first. It is, by far, the best one in my opinion. Combat Magic allows a mage to use their Magic attribute to count towards the Strength rating needed to equip armour or weaponry. It also turns your mage from a feeble spellcaster into a versatile warrior capable for physical combat. After that, you get another point at level 14 and I spend it on Blood Magic. This is when I start to put a few attribute points into Constitution because that's what counts towards raising your health. Blood Magic relies on using your health instead of mana to cast spells. My first reaction to this was, "but my mage had crap defences, his health is blown away so quick so why would I go off and lower it myself?". But in reality, when used effectively, Blood Magic can really be useful :D

Right. There goes my rant about how I train my mage. But why? Why do I do all those things? Well, I'm about to explain so hold on tight because it's not gonna be short :D

Combat Magic is an awesome spell. Once you get it, you can equip high level armour and weaponry to your mage. In battle, however, if you activate Combat Magic, it's secondary effect kicks in. It takes your Spellpower and uses that to calculate physical combat damage in place of using Strength to calculate it. Spellpower goes up as your Magic increases. This means mages do more physical damage. Also, the fatigue on your mage in changed into an attack bonus so higher fatigue means higher damage. Combat Magic, itself, has a fatigue of 50%, which is very high.

Shimmering Shield is the 3rd Arcane Warrior spell [after Aura Of Might which gives stat bonuses to Combat Magic]. This spell increases defences massively!! All Fire, Cold, Electrical, Nature and Spirit Resistances receive a 75% bonus. You also get a bonus to armour, and to physical and mental resistance. The only problem is that this spell consumes your mana rapidly while you have it on. But you'll see later why this won't be much of a problem :D Also, it adds a fatigue of 5% which adds to what I said above :)

Fade Shroud is an upgrade to Combat Magic in that it gives you a 25% chance of dodging attacks. Combining this with Shimmering Shield and you have one hell of a tank!! Even this alone contributes to a powerful mage. But couple it with Blood Magic and it gets even better :D

Blood Magic is another sustainable spell that gives 5% fatigue. It allows you to use health to cast spells at a reduced cost too!! Spells cast using health take 80% of their normal cost to cast. So a spell that would originally need 100 mana takes only 80 health to cast. It's a very good trade off :D There are a few items which make this decrease even larger so Blood Magic becomes even more effective. However, any healing effects you receive while Blood Magic is active only have 10% the effect they normally have. Now, combine this with the Arcane Warrior spells above and you have a mage whose mana is only being depleted by Shimmering Shield; the mage is attacking enemies with high physical attack damage [throw in your Flame Weapons spell and you get more fatigue and added fire damage]; high defences mean enemies don't hit you with much damage; you can still cast spells at the cost of some health.

Now this is quite a formidable combination of spells. But it get's better. Blood Sacrifice is the 2nd Blood Magic spell. It takes health from an ally and heals you. This is not affected by the healing restriction of Blood Magic. Whatever health you sap from an ally, you gain double that, so it is a good  trade off. My tactic is usually to use this spell on an animal that my rogue ranger called to help me in battle.

Blood Wound is awesome!! Within a circular area, all creatures with blood become immobilized as their blood boils and they take constant spirit damage. It's a good way to stop enemies and give you a little time to think and maybe heal yourself. This spell is affected by fatigue. One thing about fatigue I didn't mention - positive levels of fatigue increase your mana cost for a spell. But negative levels of fatigue decrease your mana cost. However, there is a cap of +25% mana cost so any fatigue over 25% doesn't add more cost.

Finally, Blood Control. This is a very useful spell. Not always needed but can be extremely useful in tricky situations. When cast on an enemy, they become your ally for a period of time. They will also take damage from the spell too. If this spell is used on the last standing enemy, it counts as the battle being over so you can save, regenerate health and mana at a high speed and such. This is really useful if you're fighting strong enemies such as Ogres.

Now, I think that's pretty much all I needed to say. With these two specializations combined, you can create a really awesome mage. Cillian, I hope you appreciate this!

Are You A Boy Or A Girl?

This is my first post here JUST on Pokémon. I'm hoping to have lots of these for you enthusiasts out there :D

At the moment I'm currently playing Pokémon Heartgold. So I'll probably be writing a good bit about that for a while until something else comes up. I do plan to get Black 2 when it comes out ^_^ So assuming I carry on with the blogging, I will most likely move onto that.

So, to get right down to it:
  1. I am currently trying to catch Ho-oh before going to the Pokémon League
  2. I have a party of 6 legitimately EV trained pokémon
  3. I have over 1,000,000 steps on my Pokéwalker
  4. I have not yet completed a file of Heartgold so this is a new hurdle for me
  5. I've been playing pokémon since I got Pokémon Yellow for Christmas 1998
252 Def; 252 Sp. Def; 6 HP
Sassy(+Sp. Def, -Sp)

252 Atk; 252 Sp, 6HP
Adamant(+Atk, -Sp. Atk)

252 Sp. Atk; 252 Sp; 6 HP
Modest(+Sp. Atk, -Atk)

252 Atk; 252 Sp; 6 HP
Adamant(+Atk, -Sp. Atk)

252 Atk; 252 Sp; 6 HP
Adamant(+Atk, -Sp. Atk)

252 Def; 252 Sp. Def; 6 HP
Impish(+Def, -Sp. Atk)

They range in level between 38-39. I'm not gonna give away their attacks... That'd be telling :P But I do have great plans for each of them once their full movesets are learnt :D

I'll just leave it at that for now. Be back soon with MOAR pokémon...

Ordinary Indifferent Equations

Just gave up on studying for the day... Spent all day looking at ordinary differential equations to the point where I don't care anymore!! Now to plan what to do tonight...

Last night, I watched Bridesmaids for the first time. It did have its comical moments but it wasn't anything amazing. I hope to have a better time tonight with something that I actually find stimulating. That was not meant in any way sexual... unfortunately!! Haha! Speaking of sexual, I watched the first two season of Mrs. Brown the other night ^_^

Currently trying to catch Ho-oh again... for anyone who's wondering how my endeavors are going :P

Oh and I just changed the font... much nicer than Default Font  in my opinion.

Anyway... here I am, sitting in my kitchen/sitting room, with my housemates (and Evan) talking about Drag Queens and wanting to buy wine while I'm playing Pokémon and writing my blog. Good times!

Ok. Here are a few things I'm deciding between tonight.

Watch one of my 270 movies

Play Digimon World

Not play Bioshock [which I bought for €10 recently because if I do play it, I won't do anything for the rest of study month]

Potentially join my housemates in watching/talking about/making reference to RuPaul's Drag Race

In all truth, I'll probably do all of those!!

The Bad Stuff

Not a great way to start off but I find it's always the easiest! Like most people do I tend to think of the crappy things going on at the moment. As I'm 19, there are going to be loads!

  1. Ho-oh...Y U NO GET IN POKÉBALL? Yes. My first complaint is about Ho-oh in Heartgold. All I want is a nature that doesn't suck. As an avid trainer I refuse to use cheats to catch it, but god does it do my head in!
  2. Study Month is not actually as long as you'd think. With my exams starting 2 weeks tomorrow, I've accomplished so much less than I wished. Which leads to my next point...
  3. Procrastination. This is an obvious one. Half past two in the morning and here I am, writing my first blog entry. It could be worse I suppose;  I could be trying to catch that darn Ho-oh and stressing myself.
  4. Jobs are not looking good. Summer will, again, be boring and uninteresting with the lack of a job. No job = no money = no fun = sad Kieran
  5. Lady Gaga, I love you to bits, but with tickets going on sale tomorrow for the show in Dublin, it looks like I won't be going :'( Major sad face since most of my friends who are fans of her are going.
  6. Musty, my cat. Recently died, had him for twelve years. Makes me sad when I go home at the weekends and don't see him around....
  7. Max, one of my dogs... ditto!! Died recently too...
  8. This blog entry is awful :D It being my first, I didn't know what to say... But maybe future ones will be better :D
I'll leave it at that for now. Ugh... Should not have thought about those... Sleep deprived bored lonely Kieran is sad now. But enough wallowing in self pity. Tomorrow will be good, I'll make it be good XD

So long!
I shall be back...
